The best products empower authentic human relationships
I built StampFans because I believe in the power of authentic human connections.
The fact is, when we reflect on our lives, I think most of us can point to particular relationships that made ALL the difference in the world.
I know I can.
We met someone who finally “got” us. Who showed us the path forward. Who helped us get that job or solve that problem. Whose example or encouragement promoted us to become better versions of ourselves.
I remember getting lunch with a buddy one cold, snowy day as a sophomore in college. I’d been struggling with depression at the time and felt very much alone.
Within just a minute of sitting down, this friend opened up to me about his own battle with depression — before I’d even said anything about mine.
It’s like a light went off in my head. I suddenly realized I wasn’t alone. This was a shared struggle. Something we could fight together.
I’ve never forgot that moment. It was the beginning of healing for me. A burden was lifted permanently, and all because this guy was willing to get lunch and open up.
How much potential do each of us have to make a similar difference in our connections’ lives? To simply open up about ourselves and shine our light into someone else’s darkness? To share our advice on things (like yoga, or journaling, or motherhood, or entrepreneurship) that have helped us become better versions of ourselves?
There are lots of ways to do this, of course. But in my opinion, an ink-on-paper letter goes a lot further than a text, email, or LinkedIn post.
There’s something special about opening up a piece of mail in your own hands, your own home. About bringing the digital into the physical, and onto your desk or coffee table.
No, this isn’t the only way to connect. I don’t expect we’ll all replace our emails with snail-mail.
But it’s something special.
It creates a deeper connection. A more powerful moment. A relationship that’s just that much stronger than it was before.
I want to make those experiences happen more often.
